At Trilix, internships have always been more than just a summer job. Our interns gain professional work experience and the opportunity to network and explore the marketing industry while developing new skills. While many companies canceled their summer internship programs, we decided there’s no better educational opportunity than 2020’s crash course in adaptability and problem-solving in marketing. We hired two interns this summer — Noah Saluri in Des Moines and Mackenzie Hollis in Birmingham.

Most students don’t envision an internship wearing a face mask and bragging about your ample supply of hand sanitizer, but Mackenzie and Noah were ready for the challenge.

“Being an intern during a global pandemic has been different to say the least,” said Noah. “Although meetings and discussions that would have been done in a conference room are now done via Zoom calls, everyone at Trilix has done a great job of providing guidance and assistance to me during these strange times.”

Noah is returning for his second internship in our accounts management department. As an advertising major at Iowa State University, his passion for the industry, knack for organization and positive attitude equip him to handle any project thrown his way.

More about Noah:

What skills from prior roles/educational experiences can you apply in your new role?
Before my internship with Trilix last summer, I had no experience. However, I learned so much last summer that will allow me to tackle new projects this summer.

Favorite meal or restaurant in Des Moines?
The chicken parmigiana from Christopher’s in Beaverdale.

If you didn’t work in this industry, what would your second career choice be?
If I didn’t work in this industry and could choose any career, I would choose to be a rancher on the Yellowstone Ranch in Montana.

What do you like to do in your free time?
I like to spend my free time outdoors. One of my favorite outdoor activities is biking.

What influential person would you most like to have dinner with (past or present)?
If I could have dinner with one person of my choosing, I would pick Joe Rogan. I listen to his podcasts and know he would provide great conversations.

Tell us something no one would guess about you.
I have five sisters and only one brother.

What is your go-to karaoke song?
"American Pie" by Don McLean is the go-to.

Favorite place to visit?
My favorite place to visit is Cinque Terre on the Italian Riviera coastline. I visited there four different times while studying in Florence, Italy.

If Trilix gave out awards, you would be voted “Most Likely To…”
Most likely to lose in a game of around-the-office mini golf.

Mackenzie joins our PR/communications department in Birmingham. Originally from Collierville, Tennessee, Mackenzie attends the University of Alabama where she studies business management with a specialization in entrepreneurship, and a double major in dance. Her experience with social media, content marketing and strategic planning make her a great fit with our PR/Communications team.

When asked what drew her to Trilix, Mackenzie said “I decided to apply for an internship at Trilix after I had the opportunity to meet and work with Emily Esleck and Ron Maahs last summer at Helena Products Group in Memphis. I enjoyed the energy they brought into a room and found the social media side of a company fascinating. I thought it would be a new experience and something I could learn a lot from.”

More about Mackenzie:

If you didn’t work in this industry, what would your second career choice be?
If I didn’t work in this industry, my second career choice would be more dance- and performance-based. I would love to own a dance convention and be able to teach and mentor children and young adults in the dance industry throughout the country.

Do you have any pets?
Yes, I have two dogs: a miniature schnauzer named Beau and a red British lab named Yeti!

What influential person would you most like to have dinner with (past or present)?
I would want to have dinner with Bob Fosse. Fosse was a huge icon, a trailblazer in dance and theatre who impacted many Broadway musicals and the dance styles that we see today on stage and in film.

Morning person or night owl?
I am a night owl. Mornings are definitely not for me, unless I have lots of coffee!

Favorite movie and/or TV show?
My favorite TV show would either be "How I Met Your Mother" or "Friends." My favorite movie is "Clueless."

What do you like to do in your free time?
I usually spend my free time dancing, hanging out with friends, working out or hanging out on Pickwick Lake!

You can only eat one dessert for the rest of your life. What is it?
I would definitely be able to eat plain cheesecake for the rest of my life and never get tired of it!

Favorite food?
My favorite food would have to be filet mignon!

Anything else you’d like to tell us?
I am very excited to have the opportunity to learn as much as I can throughout this process and get to know everyone at Trilix both in person and virtually!

We’re grateful for the time and hard work Mackenzie and Noah have already provided us this summer, and we look forward to watching them succeed in their future endeavors.
